Do you want to join the Summerdale Team?

If you are interested in pursuing a career at Summerdale Medical, we would love to hear from you

Fellowed GPs

We are always looking for committed, enthusiastic, full time or part-time Vocationally Registered GPs who are fully qualified and registered with either RACGP or ACRRM. Please contact us if you are interested in meeting us and joining our team. Unfortunately we are not able to offer positions to non-VR GPs at this time.

Registrars

We provide training and employment to GP registrars annually via either the RACGP or ACRRM pathways. We are also able to provide registrar positions via the Single Employer Model program if required. According to the training position cap specified by RACGP, we are currently able to offer up to three full time registrar positions annually.

Our Teaching History

Summerdale Medical Practice has a long history of training GP registrars and we have a fantastic track record. Our first ever registrar was Dr Diane Hintum in 2004, who is now one of our Practice Partners, along with other former registrars Dr Nathan Lucas, Dr Matthew Johnson and Dr Sharon Fitzpatrick. Our retention rate is high with 70% of our current fellowed GP workforce being former registrars of the practice. We believe this proves that Summerdale is a great place to train and work.

Historically we have had between one and four registrars each year at all levels from GPT1 to GPT4. We offer a supportive training environment and high quality teaching. Our registrars have all done well in their RACGP exams with two of our registrars being recipients of the prestigious RACGP Tasmania Examination Medal, for achieving the highest marks in the state in their RACGP fellowship exams. We provide weekly teaching sessions and tutorials on important General Practice topics, as well as assistance with written exam preparation and CCE practice.

Accredited Supervisors

*Dr Hintum was recipient of the RACGP award for Tasmanian Supervisor of the Year in 2024

Outside of her work at Summerdale, Dr Katherine Moore is also employed by RACGP as a Medical Educator, and is also a senior examiner for RACGP. She is able to offer further support and exam preparation to our registrars as a result of her experience in these areas.
