Comprehensive diabetes care is available from diagnosis and includes complication screens and insulin initiation if necessary. All patients with diabetes are offered to join our diabetes register which will send prompts for twice yearly comprehensive screening which includes foot and kidney checks as well as prompts for free immunisations.

Most patients with diabetes will have a team care arrangement drawn up which ensures all the providers involved in your care are in communication with each other and it also allows access to five medicare rebates per calendar year for attendances to an allied health worker such as a podiatrist or dietician.

All doctors at our Practice are able to prepare a Mental Health Treatment Plan which makes a patient eligible to obtain a Medicare rebate when attending a psychologist or allied mental health professional. Details of the scheme can be accessed at Medicare.

All doctors at the Practice are able to provide medical advice before and after international travel. Individual advice can be found at Travel Health ONLINE or the NPS website.

Warnings about the safety of travel is available at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

It is recommended that you book an appointment at least 6 weeks before travel to discuss travel health and immunisations. Please advise the receptionist when booking it is a travel health appointment. Your doctor will map out a plan for any immunisations that may be required as well as provide travel advice.

The Summerdale Medical Centre is able to administer all travel vaccines except Yellow Fever. Sites that administer Yellow Fever vaccine in Launceston can be accessed at the Department of Health and Human Services.
