The Summerdale Medical Practice does not routinely bulk bill.

Successive federal governments have failed to support the Medicare rebate and the current rebates no longer in any way reflect the cost of delivering a quality medical service. In the early 1980s fee negotiations between the medical profession and government ceased and since then the government has determined the level of the rebate without any input from the medical profession. Practices that exclusively bulk bill struggle to deliver quality service and need to see patients quickly to survive. The Summerdale Medical Practice charges fees that ensure we continue to deliver a quality and comprehensive service.

Doctors individually determine the fee to be charged. Currently the average out of pocket fees, if paid on the day, for a pensioner or person with a valid health care card are:

Patient Service Gap Fee
Consultation $34.00
Nurse Procedure $20.00 (maximum $20 per week)
Minor Surgery $60.00

If you have financial difficulty please discuss this with your doctor.
